Hey Procraftinators! I am so excited, because today, we are celebrating my 500 subscriber milestone! I can't believe that I made it this far. As I write this, I am just barely shy of 700 subs, actually. I scheduled this hop when I was about 50 or so subs away from 500 and because I was part of the Save the Crafty Youtuber hop, I soared right on by 500 and am now almost to 700! I never thought when I started this channel that I would make it this far, honestly. It was something I did on a whim from the encouragement of my husband. He thought that I should start a YouTube channel to help pass my time, as I am a stay at home wife due to being partially disabled. I thought he was crazy when he suggested it and that no one would want to watch my crazy antics in the craft room. I guess he proved me wrong!
So, this hop's theme is fun fold cards. I have always enjoyed unique or interactive cards the most of all cards. The more unique, the better, honestly. However, when I started trying to figure out what I wanted to do for this hop, I drew an absolute blank. It was like I had stage fright or something! So, when I can't figure out what I want to do, I look to Pinterest for inspiration, as many of us do, I am sure. I typed fun folds into Pinterest and started scrolling. I found several that I liked, but then I didn't know what I would put on them. I came across this one, called a Greenhouse Gatefold card. I took one look at it and thought "hmmmm....that would make a perfect Gnome Home!" My mother in law is in love with gnomes. She has been crazy about them since before they were the "in thing." I recently ordered the My Favorite Things You Gnome Me stamp set from their clearance sale and planned to use it for a Mother's Day or birthday card for her. So, my wheels started turning about how I could use this fun fold for a gnome home and make her a fun gnome inspired card.
Now, I am not big on getting rulers, a score board and all that out to make fun fold cards. If I can make it with my Cricut, that is how I am going to do it. So, I made an SVG file with Sure Cuts A Lot and cut the card base with my Cricut. I used a few elements from Design Space, one element from a Dreaming Tree file and then I mixed in the MFT You Gnome Me stamp set plus a few elements from the Lawn Fawn Fairy Friends stamp set to decorate this card. I think it turned out pretty great. I'm not going to do a step by step walk through on this one, as I think it's best explained through my video. So, I will just link it below.

Love your card Amanda . I just love the Gnomes, They really are so cute. Congrats on the 735 subs. So exciting .I have been really wanting to get a channel going as well just not sure yet with my health issues if it would work out. I would hate to get going and then not be able to be consistent. Hope you had a great Easter.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I struggle with chronic pain issues and yes, it can be hard to be consistent sometimes. If you were to go back and look at my channel, I was terribly inconsistent when I first started it. What sort of helps, at least for me, is getting involved in hops like this. If I have something that I have committed to doing, then I make sure it gets done first. At least, I have that on my calendar. For me, at least lately, all that goes up on my channel right now is hops, collabs and my once a month design team commitment, because it's about all I can handle time and energy wise. I hope you had a great Easter too.
