Hello Procraftinators!
Today, I am participating in a HUGE card hop! The theme is Encouragement. This hop was organized by Courtney Kreeber, Mary Polanco and Jenn from Scrapbena Creations. I made a very shiny encouragement themed card that I think turned out beautifully!
I started by spraying some Pixie Spray on a stencil by The Crafter's Workshop called Mini Swirly Garden. Then I masked off the middle portion of my card with a cut out of the focal stamp I planned to use by Altenew from the Lace Up stamp set, also, unfortunately retired. I cut the mask using my Cricut out of Avery Removable Labels. I don't have dies for this stamp set and fussy cutting is difficult for me because I have nerve issues in my hands. So, I used my Cricut to help me with this. I store most of my stamps in DVD cases and stamp out all the stamps on an insert that goes in the front of the case. I scanned that insert using my printer's scanner and used Sure Cuts ALot to trace the image and make die cut of the stamp that was the exact same size of the stamp. I saved it as an SVG and uploaded it into Cricut Design Space. I, then carefully, applied the glitz glitter gel through the stencil, around the mask. I will say that this masking paper is not the best for wet mediums, but I wasn't terribly concerned as I am going to cover this area up with a die cut anyways. I just didn't want to waste a bunch of the glitter gel in an area that I didn't need to put it. I placed my stencil on a piece of Holo Waves Craft Perfect Cardstock sold by Tonic Studios. I had pre-cut this cardstock down to 4 x 5.25in. Next, I spread some Gina K Glitz Glitter Gel in White through the stencil and let it dry for a couple hours.
While that was drying, I got to work on my focal image. I used a heart stamp from Altenew's Lace Up stamp set. I cut a shadow layer with my Cricut out of cardstock and then used the negative piece of cardstock to line up the stamp in my Tim Holtz Stamp Platform to stamp the image onto my die cut shadow image. After that, I watercolored the image with my Koi Perlescent Watercolors. Once it was dry, I adhered the image to the holographic and glitter background with a piece of craft foam which I also cut out with my Cricut using an inset cut.
Next, I stamped out my sentiments, using my favorite encouragement themed sentiments from Neat and Tangled's Celebrate You stamp and die set, which is also unfortunately retired. This set is near and dear to my heart, because when it was being sold, part of the proceeds were being donated to the Burning Limb Foundation. Which is a charity that helps people with a condition called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, also known as Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome. I was diagnosed with RSD/CRPS a little over 13yrs ago. Anyways, I stamped out my sentiments using Distress Oxide inks in Dusty Concord and clear heat embossed over them using Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I cut them into small rectangle strips and attached them to the front of my card using foam squares, except for the one that was directly glued to the heart. I also stamped my inside sentiment with the Dusty Concord Distress Oxide ink and clear heat embossed over it as well, off camera. After that, I attached the card front the the card base using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive. To finish the card off, I added the "Celebrate You" die cut inside the card with the Holo Waves cardstock as the shadow layer and Gleaming Lavender Pearlescent Cardstock from Craft Perfect as the normal text layer. I attached the die cut using the Nuvo adhesive as well. Not to toot my own horn, but it's just gorgeous!
